Aspire Kids has created and sustains a charitable organization that effectively and efficiently provides a respite care service for school aged children and young people (5-21 years). Specifically for children and young people in Dunedin, Otago who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
We provide help and support for these children and teenagers, their family members, caregivers and friends who care for them and by letting them know they are not alone. While at the same time, promoting tolerance and acceptance within the community of children who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
Aspire now have an increasing number of whānau involved. The quality of their service is assessed by the increase and retention of tamariki and their whānau in their programmes, along with verbal feedback from whānau and tamariki themselves.
To strengthen relationships with their clients their manager attends, on average, three family group conferences each week to assist and support whānau accessing our programmes.
The Trust has ACC approval as a Community Based Care Provider and continue to maintain close relationships with Government and local service providers.
